Your liability limits are for coverage that pays for injuries and damage to other people or their property caused by an insured driver (you). This avoids the possibility of these expenses coming out of your pocket. For more information, you can call our customer service center at 787-777-5050.
Typically, the car owner’s policy is the one that applies first in case of any accident. Having said that, under some circumstances, Velox24 coverage may also apply. This is known as secondary or excessive coverage, since it covers the costs that are beyond the limits of the car owners’ policy.
Your Velox24 policy applies only to loses and incidents that occur in Puerto Rico, the United States and its other territories, and Canada. Please, review the ‘Conditions’ segment of your plan to confirm in which specific areas your policy coverage applies.
The Physical Damage coverage pays for damages to your vehicle, and generally refers to comprehensive and/or collision damage. For more details on these policy options, you may access your profile on this website. If you have any further doubts or concerns, you may also contact us at 787-777-5050.
This coverage pays for damages caused by incidents other than an accident with another vehicle, such as theft, fire, falling objects, storms, vandalism or accidents involving animals. It may also cover expenses in case of windshield fracture. The ‘other than collision’ coverage usually carries a deductible of around $500. Remember, the higher the deductible, the lower the premium.
Collision coverage pays for damage caused to your vehicle in an accident or contact with another vehicle or stationary object. A deductible already established in your policy will be applied to each accident, usually $500.00.
If you are getting your car under financing or leasing, you probably will need to have both coverages. Companies that provide financing and leasing usually require the insured to obtain collision and non-collision damage coverage (Comprehensive Coverage). Check your contract or contact said institution to verify what coverage they may require.
The higher your deductible, the lower the premium for said coverage. The decision depends on how much responsibility you are able and willing to assume in case of an accident. When your car is to be repaired after an accident, the insured person is responsible for paying the deductible amount that was originally chosen. For example, if the insured chose a deductible of $500 and the car repair costs $1,500, the insured would have to pay $500 and the insurer would have to pay $1,000. You must analyze which deductible is the most convenient, according to your situation.
